Voting Question: 'Origin must play no part' Israel grant plea by Iran family to treated son in Jewish State. What you think?
'Origin must play no part' Published: 10.08.08, 12:32 / Israel News Israel grant unusual plea by Tehran family to have son suffering form brain cancer treated in Jewish state. 'When a child's life is at stake religion and origin play no part,' says Minister Sheetrit. A 12-year-old Iranian boy suffering from brain cancer is scheduled to arrive in Israel on Friday for emergency surgery. The boy, who already underwent surgery in Tehran, was later admitted to a Turkish hospital, but his Ankara physicians soon discovered their facility lacked the technological and medical expertise needed to properly treat him. The Turkish doctors suggested the family seek medical assistance in Israel, and so they did, through Israeli liaison Jacob Levin. "I contacted and met with Dr. Feldman and Prof. Shapira from (the Chaim Sheba Medical middle at) Tel Hashomer, and after they looked over the case file they agreed to treat the boy if we could secure his arrival to Israel," Levin told Yedioth Ahronoth. "Once I had their consent, I contacted every the relevant government bureaus, so we would be given permission to fly him in," he added. The complex feat required a personal ex-gratia authorization from Interior Minister Meir Sheetrit, since the boy is Iranian and citizens of an foe state are banned from entering Israel. "We are the light upon the nations, and when a child's life is at stake religion and origin play no part," said Minister Sheetrit. "If we can help, we are more than willing to do so."

Resolved Question: are these countries safe for a trans student to study abroad?
Hi, I'm an FTM transsexual planning a summer abroad trip, but not to any of those typical LGBT friendly countries, and I was wondering if these locations would be safe and/or which would be best for me. Thanks! Cairo, Egypt Amman, Jordan Tunis, Tunisia Tangier, Morocco Salalah, Oman Baku, Azerbaijan Dhaka, Bangladesh Harbin, China Suzhou, China Suwon, South Korea Dushanbe, Tajikistan Nizhny Novgorod, Russia Astrakhan, Russia Alanya, Turkey Ankara, Turkey Izmir, Turkey Istanbul, Turkey Lucknow, India Kolkata, India Jaipur, India Chandighar, India I realize there's definitely an inherent risk in traveling to these countries where people can't really be openly "out," but I was wondering if someone had a better perspective than I do, or even personal anecdotes. Thanks again!

Resolved Question: I cannot organize please Help? (Canada, immigration, study, work)?
I am a composer, choir conductor and conservatory teacher. I've applied to Canadian Consultant in Ankara for self employed immigration, I 've had an file number for this application and I'm in the row. My application points are OK. But you know this could be extremely long process, especially from my country. (There are some cases which had took about 6 years, this is really A LOT, isn't it?) On the other hand I had already been wanted to study in Canada, before applying. I have master degree and I want to go on Phd. My master degree's equality is OK. While my searching about these things I have realized that if I want a future in Canada I have to had an education in Canada on my area. So I know my aims overlap each other. I am not wealthy but I have enough money for tutotion fees and supporting my family approximately 2 (and maybe more, if something happens) years. Besides this I had an academic career in here. I have a career as an artist also. I wish to find an assistanship position maybe or I can tutor in schools or I can give private piano, harmony, counterpoint lessons, or even I can conduct choirs and orchestras, and play piano in somewhere. There are just 4 universities have Phd education on my area in Canada. I've corresponded already with two of them. The answers that recieved me one is quite positive, other one is more official. I'm planning to take TOEFL exam in next few months. Then I'll apply that universities. There are some examinations for our area like piano, History of Music, Theory of Music etc. I think I can give these exams. I won't want any scholarship also. They says in their website's "If you cannot achieve to take exams you can take courses too from school.". These examinations generally in August and semestr begins in the beginning of September. As well as every of things I've a son and a husband and I mainly support them here economically. I'm planning to take them with me, if I enroll a university. NOW! WOW... I WONDER; -If I enroll one of these universities my immigration application goes faster or not? -Is there any practice like... mmm... frozing a semestr and start from next one. Because I can need some time in here for organizing my works my family and visa. I'm planning taking tourist visa and coming for exams in next August then coming back to my country. Then If I enroll one of the univesities I have to apply for student visa and wait for it. So there is no time for this. -May I ask previous question to universities when I'm corresponding? Or does it look weird? -May I want from a university to take examination date before? Because there are notice in two web sites; "...If you're not able to be here in these dates please write following email adress and ..." If I can do it for example beginning of the summer I can have enough time to organise my every thing. -What do you think about my change of finding a work in two years? I really don't expect you answer every the questions, but if you can find any solution formula for one of my problems that can be very important for me. Because I really confused and bored about what I should do and how I can do something.

Resolved Question: Are there any Turkish people from Canada?
I applied to Canadian Consultant in Ankara for self employed immigration, but you know this is extremely long process. I want to continue my education in Canada on Phd Level, and looking for universities. If I can, if I manage to enroll one of them I am planning to be there in a year. I want to know how is life there? I'd like to read your personal observations about challenges in the life. Or I'd like to read any different suggestion to make this "coming process" shorter. thanks... Sidwell; First of every thank you very much for your exertion to answer me. I am appreciated for this. Obviously I couldn't explain my self clearly. I've already applied for immigration. I 've had an file number for this application and I'm in the row. But this is a very long process. On the other hand I had already wanted to study in Canada, before applying. I suppose things have really got better in big cities such as Istanbul,Ankara,Izmir, with the women emancipation. But what about the other cities ? Or are there still many steps before reaching real freedom in morals and relationships (adore) ?

Resolved Question: Propaganda in Turkish schoolbooks?
According to history manual of the sixth class of primary school in turkey: Page 19: "The islands of Aegean are below Greek occupation" Page 24: "Greece does not have the power to keep the peace at the Aegean" Page 65: "Peace in Asian Minor and safety in Asia will maintain only with the return of these islands to Turkey" Page 110: "Turkey defined our territorial waters within 6 miles from the mainland in 1930. Thus Chios, Lesvos and Samos are located within the territorial waters of Turkey. The right of sovereignty of a country in its possess territorial waters, allows it to practice the same rights for the islands that are within these waters." According to the Turkish historian Hasan Cemil every the ancient civilizations of Aegean - Greek included - where of Turkish origin! (Ege medeniyetinin umumi bir bakis, Ankara) According to Selahattin Salışık Turks came to Aegean in 2480 b.C and Democritus, Herodotus, Hippocrates, Pythagoras and Homer were...Turks! How do you judge this type of history teaching? Should modern states cultivate the propaganda on their citizens, relying on their sensitivity in order to achieve national interests? I would be grateful if you could answer my question, and not trying to avoid it like the previous question i raised. If you want my opinion about US, the answer is no.. Gugu according to my information, the first quotes are from the book "The rights of Turkey in Aegean" (Ege Denizinde Turk Haklari - ed. 1996) of the Turkish historian Mehmet Saka and it is taught at the biggest classes of Turkish primary school. http://www.nadirkitap.com/upload/Kitap_20080401204625_279_3.JPG The book "Ege medeniyetinin menşeine umumi bir bakış" is taught at the academic and military schools of Turkey. As for the third quotes, they are from the book "Türk Yunan İlişkileri Tarihi ve etnik'i Eterya" that has been approved by the Turkish ministry of Education. I wouldn't criticize them if they were not taught. There is no need to insult each other by the way, so try to be focused on the question.
